Stanton Warriors (Dominic B) The Stanton Warriors succeeded in not only bucking musical definition but have picked it up by the collar and kicked it's arse. Not many can claim to have defined a sound, but Mark Yardley and Dominic B are definitely there. These guys are at the top of the break beat premier league. Look out for the muchanticipated Stanton Sessions 2 mix being released early 2006. Andy Smith (Dynamo Productions) Initially making a name for himself as the originator of the major-label multi-genre mix album (with his ’98 release of The Document) Portishead tour DJ Andy Smith has established himself as an underground producer of some of the most irresistible hip-hop and breaks-based music around, working with Scott Hendy (Boca 45) under the name Dynamo Productions. Andy will close the event in the front room.
Fresh (Breakbeat Kaos) It is rare to spend 30 minutes on a drum and bass dance floor and not hear a Fresh production. Knowledge Magazine's reigning best producer in the world, two years running and best known as the front man for now defunct smash DnB band, Bad Company, Dj Fresh was responsible for signing Pendulum to the Breakbeat Kaos imprint he co-owns with Adam F. Dj Fresh is a veritable linguist in the vast and vital sound language of drum & bass and will be rinsing the Gershwin with his bone shaking bass.
Ils (Distinctive) Bad ass b-lines of the highest order. Ils is one of breakbeat’s leading lights. Discovered by LTJ Bukem who subsequently released four single’s through Good Lookin’ Records, Ils first album release through Fuel, Idiots Behind the Wheel, was hailed as the first proper nu-skool breaks release. His second album, through Marine Parade, titled Soul Trader featured the single 6 Space/Next Level which continues to tear up dance floors to this day. Bohemia, Ils’ third studio album was released earlier this year and is one of the most talked about bb albums of 2005.
Shimon (Ram Records) An integral and original member of the RAM Recordings crew, Shimon, world-class dj, talented producer and skilled engineer has been instrumental in developing and progressing that unique "RAM" sound that has caused dance floor pandemonium worldwide since the label's inception in 1992. His collaborations with partners Andy C and Ant Miles have spawned some of the most lauded production cuts in DnB history. Shimon brings his trademark vibe to the Gershwin room. Not to be missed.
Splitloop (Against The Grain) Those of you with an ear for break beat music should already be aware of this red hot new act from Dublin, those of you not yet in the know should pay close attention. Phil & Bren of Splitloop are a frighteningly talented, increasingly powerful production team from Ireland who met on a bus on the way to a Prodigy gig. Since then they have been locked away in deepest Dublin developing a funk fuelled style of breaks which has won them the respect of The Plump DJ s, Tayo, Krafty Kuts and Soul Of Man amongst others. Their debut album “Here on Business” is out now.
